About Art.sy:
In a sentence, Art.sy is Pandora meets Kayak for the fine art world. Our goal is to disrupt the existing fine art market, and expand it to the 99.9% of Americans that don’t buy fine art but spend over $40B on reproductions and mass-produced prints. We will achieve this by providing Kayak-like access to the fine art world, and Pandora-like intelligence to help navigate it.
Art.sy is led by a Princeton University computer science engineer and a former Christies executive who launched Christies’ private sales division and grew revenue to $100M in 12 months. Art.sy’s advisors include the CEO of Pandora and former CEO of IconNicholson (before it was acquired by LBi).
Art.sy was selected to present at TechCrunch Disrupt and won the Yahoo! Rookie Disruptor award. Previously Art.sy won 1st place at the Next Gen conference at Stanford and 2nd place and Audience Choice awards at the Princeton Business Plan Competition.
And most importantly, Zach Klein thinks Art.sy would be a great place to work
.
The Role:
Art.sy is looking for an extremely passionate, self-motivated, and entrepreneurially minded lead developer to be a part of our founding team. This is one of our most senior positions and you will help shape both our cultural DNA and our vision for the future. Your responsibility: turn that vision into code.
We use jQuery on top of Zend (an MVC + OO LAMP framework for PHP), but don’t care about what specific languages you are familiar with. Our philosophy is simple: hire the best people – languages are just tools to an end. We are particularly interested in people with diverse passions such as writing, design, machine learning, graph theory, computer vision, non-relational databases, art, stand-up, meditation, and interpretive dancing. You get the idea.
You must…
- Be hungry for a core role with significant equity ownership.
- Be comfortable with every part of the web application stack.
- Have cool projects already under your belt that you can point to.
- Be passionate about helping more people enjoy fine art.
- Have an appreciation for beautiful design and understand basic design principles.
- Enjoy working with teams and feel comfortable in a leadership role.
Our Offices:
We work out of a beautiful loft space in the Union Square area, with several other exciting NYC start-ups including GoodCrush, VillageVines, GoTryItOn, and Postling. It’s an exciting environment and you will meet a lot of other creative and brilliant people. Also, the location couldn’t be better: we are near the 1, L, N, Q, R, W, 4, 5, 6 stops, right across the street from City Bakery, and only a 5 minute walk from the Shake Shack.
Compensation:
As a founding team member, equity compensation will be significant. Cash compensation will be below market in the short term.
